James Matthew Freer, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and member of the Society of Hospital Medicine.  He works on the hospitalist service at both BJH and BJWC and attends on the inpatient medicine teaching service and the bedside procedure service.  His interests include teaching of medical students and residents and supervising residents performing bedside procedures.  Since 2007, Dr. Freer has served as the Director of the Procedure Service.  He served as the editor and authored much of the Washington Manual of Bedside Procedures.  Dr. Freer has also authored numerous book chapters and two papers on a variety of topics.  Dr. Freer has been the invited discussant at the Clinicopathologic Conference (CPC) seven times.  His other areas of interest include procedural simulation training, Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), and clinical operations at BJWC hospital.

Michelle Freilich, MD, is an Instructor in Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine. She joined the division in June 2023 after completing her internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Her primary role is direct patient care of hospitalized patients. She has a particular interest in nocturnist medicine and resident education.  She is also interested in clinical operations and serves on the patient care operations committee.

Susanne Furesz, MD, is an Instructor in Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine. She received her BS in Biology from St. Mary's University in 1991, before moving to Nebraska to pursue her Doctor of Medicine in 1995. In 1998, Suzanne completed her residency in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/WashU Medicine. Dr. Furesz joined the division in 2009, where she enjoys working in inpatient care.

Hannah Gill, PA-C, MMS is a Physician Assistant within the Division of Hospital Medicine at Washington University.  She holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and received her Physician Assistant, Master of Medical Science degree from St. Louis University in 2023. She completed a PA Fellowship in March of 2025. Previous research interests include the antimicrobial potential of synthetic ion channels and exploring new disease-modifying targets in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease. She prioritizes patient education and safety and is dedicated to setting a high standard for patient care.

Lisa M. Gill, DNP, ANP, is an accomplished healthcare professional with a strong educational background. She holds a BSN from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1993), an MSN from Barnes-Jewish College of Nursing (2000), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2017). She has served as a DNP and ANP for Washington University/ Barnes-Jewish Hospital for 31 years. Lisa's career philosophy centers on providing holistic care that meets the physical and emotional needs of patients, treating each individual with dignity. She is certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center and licensed by the Missouri Board of Nursing. With expertise in nursing care for congestive heart failure patients, Lisa has presented her work at conferences, including "The Congestive Heart Failure Nurse Development Project" (2016) and "Improving Non-Cardiac Nurses' Knowledge and Comfort Level in Congestive Heart Failure Patient Care" (2017).

Margo Girardi, MD, SFHM, is an Associate Professor in Medicine, Core Clinical Faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, and the Medical Director for the Inpatient Medicine Teaching Service (Firm 1). She has an interest in medical education, clinical operations, quality improvement, and physician wellness. She attends frequently on the inpatient medicine teaching service and medicine consult service, as well as caring for patients directly on the hospitalist service. Dr. Girardi has recently focused on diabetes care, and she is the recipient of a grant from the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation for the development and implementation of SQ insulin protocols for DKA patients on medicine.

Tracey L. Godbold, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She attends on a variety of inpatient clinical services and teaching rotations, including the bone marrow transplant service, the General Medicine Inpatient teaching service (FIRM medicine), and the Procedure Team. She also enjoys caring for patients directly on the general inpatient hospitalist service and serving as a consulting physician at the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis (TRISL). Her clinical interests include Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for clinical diagnosis and procedural management, high-value inpatient care, and teaching resident physicians.

Sopiko Gogia, MD, joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2025. Gogia earned her medical degree from the American MD Program at Tbilisi State Medical University in 2020. After graduation, she worked as a junior doctor and clinical trial coordinator at the Cancer Research Center (K. Mardaleishvili Clinic) in Tbilisi. She later became a resident physician in the Medical Oncology Program. Gogia moved to the U.S. in 2022 and completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at Ascension Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, before joining the Division of Hospital Medicine at WashU Medicine. Her key interests include hospital medicine with a particular interest in hematology and oncology. Her other interests are patient safety, quality improvement, and point-of-care ultrasound. She also enjoys teaching and working with medical students and residents.

She has a special interest in medical education, having been involved in numerous medical education initiatives while a medical student at Washington University. She enjoys working with medical students and residents on the internal medicine service. She has special research and clinical interest in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Madeline Grondalski, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine and works primarily on the oncology and bone marrow transplant services as a hospitalist. She has an interest in teaching and mentorship of students and residents on the oncology and bone marrow transplant services. She helps with interviewing candidates for the Division of Hospital Medicine as well as aiding in the orientation of new hospitalists. Dr. Grondalski services on the Oncology/BMT Committee and the Orientation Committee. Prior to her medical training she completed her nursing education with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is a Registered Nurse, which helped strengthen her interests in patient centered care. Dr. Grondalski has a special interest in multidisciplinary communication, patient experience, and medical trainee wellness.

Tabitha Gruskowski, NP, is a Nurse Practitioner Fellow in the Division of Hospital Medicine at WashU Medicine. Tabitha is an accomplished nursing professional, with a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Saint Joseph's College in Maine. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New England and a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences from Stonehill College. Since 2021, Tabitha has worked as a Registered Nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also served as a Clinical Nursing Instructor. Her extensive experience includes roles at Newton Wellesley Hospital, clinical rotations at Lahey Medical Center, and certification in neurology and epilepsy nursing. Tabitha is a recipient of the Massachusetts General Hospital Pillars of Nursing Excellence Award and is committed to advancing patient care and safety through her research efforts.

Dr. Lucas Gu joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in October 2025. Dr. Gu is from Madison, Wisconsin. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from University of Wisconsin Madison in 2011. Before beginning medical school, Dr. Gu was a research specialist at Center for Cardiovascular Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he performed research in calcium regulation and homeostasis in heart failure cardiomyocytes. Dr. Gu obtained his medical degree from Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete his internship and residency training in internal medicine at Saint Louis University Hospital in 2019 with a focus on global health. Dr. Gu plans to continue to be involved in medical education and global health.

Dr. Lana Hamieh is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine’s Division of Hospital Medicine, serving since 2020. She is dedicated to patient care at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, including oncology, bone marrow transplant, and general internal medicine floors, and plays a pivotal role in COVID-19 patient management. She is responsible for developing treatment plans, coordinating care, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning. Dr. Hamieh serves on committees focused on quality improvement, patient safety, and oncology workflow optimization. She was born in Bathinda, a small town in the state of Punjab, India, in 1996. She completed her medical education at Government Medical College in Patiala and graduated with an M.B.B.S. degree in 2021. Hari moved to the United States to pursue residency training in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in Michigan in July 2022. Her research interests include hepatology, liver immunology, the gut-liver axis, and the gut-brain axis. She is passionate about healthcare media and patient awareness, aspiring to make medical knowledge more accessible while fostering clarity, trust, and public understanding. She went on to receive her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Maryville University in 2023 and joined the Division of Hospital Medicine in 2024. She also serves on the Division of Hospital Medicine’s EMR Committee to improve EMR workflow and streamline provider level improvements.

Eric K. Johnson, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine.  His work responsibilities balance inpatient care on the Hospitalist and Consult services with supervising as attending on both the Firm and Procedure services.  Primary interests include medical student and resident education, particularly guiding and optimizing evidence-based patient care and honing clinical problem-solving skills.  Accordingly, he is a regular discussant at the weekly CPC (Clinicopathologic Conference), which showcases astute medical diagnosis through a multidisciplinary approach, and he has received multiple Teacher of the Year awards to date.  He has also contributed to three consecutive editions of The Washington Manual of Medical Therapeutics.  An additional, albeit more informal passion of his has been following the COVID-19 pandemic since its inception, which has so far yielded several publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Kadakia actively engaged in community service initiatives, particularly focusing on assisting patients with sickle cell disease. He conducted research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, investigating the role of NAD in diabetic neuropathy. Dr. Kadakia completed his Internal Medicine residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in New Jersey, where he prioritized serving underserved populations and leading quality improvement projects.

Syeda Ashna Fatima Kamal, MD, is an Instructor in Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine. Kamal was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and spent much of her formative years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where she completed her middle school, high school, and college education. She earned her medical degree from Dow International Medical College in Pakistan, graduating in 2018. Her postgraduate training began with an internal medicine residency internship at Lincoln Medical Center in Bronx, New York. She then continued her internal medicine residency as a PGY-2 and PGY-3 at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois, where she graduated in 2024. Following her residency, she pursued a palliative care fellowship at Saint Louis University, completing it in 2025. Kamal is committed to providing exceptional patient care, contributing to medical education, and continuing her involvement in clinical research, particularly in the realm of oncology and hematology.

Ankita Kapoor, MD, MBBS, joined the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in October 2022. She provides direct care to patients admitted on the Hospitalist Service at BJH as well as BJWCH. She serves as the Director of the Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) Workforce Development, in the Division of Hospital Medicine. She enjoys teaching residents and medical students along with the PA students. She has assisted with curating an APC educational Curriculum and a robust APC evaluation process. She is also the Director of the Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program for APCs at BJH. Dr. Kapoor serves on several committees within the Division, such as Physician and APC Recruitment, Quality Improvement & Patient Safety as well as Orientation. She is also involved in the WashU Gateway Medical Conference Task Force. She also aids in interviewing and recruiting medical students for the IM Residency Program. Her current areas of interest are general internal medicine, particularly hospital medicine and inpatient services.

Dr. Kaya joined the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in Medicine in July 2024. She was accepted to one of the top third medical schools in Turkey after being part of the 0.1 percentile of students in the national exam of Turkey. During medical school, she participated in multiple community service projects with the Rotary International Organization in Turkey, including blood donation projects to raise awareness and mental/mood supporting projects for children in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology hospitals. After completing medical school, she started to work as a research fellow in Cleveland Clinic Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute in Cleveland, Ohio, by 2020. She participated in multiple research projects during her time at the Cleveland Clinic about inflammatory bowel diseases and advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic submucosal dissection. She completed her Internal Medicine training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Central Pennsylvania prior to joining the division.

Martin Kerrigan, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and serves as a Co-Director of the Internal Medicine Service in the Division of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Kerrigan also serves as the Internal Medicine Associate Clerkship Director for the School of Medicine and works as a Physician Utilization Management Advisor for Barnes-Jewish Hospital. His clinical interests include medical consultation, medical student education, curriculum development, and providing high value clinical care. He attends on the inpatient general medicine teaching service (Firm), on the medicine consult service, and on the hospitalist direct care service.

Amani Khalouf, MD, joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in October 2025. She was born and raised in Damascus, Syria before moving to the United Arab Emirates in 2013 to pursue her medical degree in Medicine and Surgery in University of Sharjah, UAE, while simultaneously working on basic cellular research in modifying biological pathways involved in Obesity. Dr. Khalouf graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2019 and joined Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for Emergency Medicine Residency. During her residency, she served in acute stepdown units of COVID 19 patients during the COVID 19 outbreak. Meanwhile, Dr. Khalouf cultivated her interest in Cardiac Critical Care and was involved in multiple research projects including COVID 19 patients and Cardiac patients. She then moved to the USA for further training and completed her Internal Medicine Residency training in Rochester General Hospital, NY in 2025. She has special interest in autonomic dysfunction groups and POTS patients.

Dr. Ali Ayub Khan joined the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in Medicine in July 2024. He grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, before attending the University of Oklahoma for undergraduate studies. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with a minor in Spanish while also completing the Interdisciplinary Honors Program. He dedicated much of his time during undergrad to the service of his community, specifically the underserved and uninsured Hispanic populations, through volunteer work at free medical clinics. He continued his studies at the University of Oklahoma and obtained a master’s degree in science in the field of prevention sciences and addiction. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma—Tulsa School of Community Medicine. Dr. Khan then completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. His training at this large university center and safety net hospital further reinforced the importance of socioeconomic factors on population health and health disparities.

Dr. Hazera Khatun joined the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in Medicine in July 2024. She earned her MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh and completed her hematology training, receiving a fellowship from BCPS. Dr. Khatun has published multiple articles in clinical research on hematology. She obtained an MSc in Biomedical Sciences from King's College London, UK, as a Commonwealth Scholar. In the USA, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine and has been practicing as a full-time hospitalist since 2019. Dr. Khatun also has a keen interest in clinical education and briefly taught as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine.

Daniel Kichura, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine.  He is the Director of Malignant Hematology (Bone Marrow Transplant) Hospitalists and co-chair of the Hospitalist BMT/Oncology Committee.  He attends on the Malignant Hematology and Medical Oncology services, and as a teaching attending for the Internal Medicine residency program (Firm).  He also serves on the Patient Care Operations, Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, and Recruitment committees and the Oncology Fall Response Group.  He is interested the care of hospitalized malignant hematology patients, patient safety and quality improvement, teaching medical students and residents, and mentoring new hospitalists.

Adam Kneepkens, MD, joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2025. He was born and raised in Duluth, MN, before attending Saint Louis University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in political science and biology. Following this, he returned to Minnesota to receive his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in the Twin Cities. Kneepkens completed his internal medicine internship and residency training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis prior to joining the Division of Hospital Medicine. He decided to stay at BJH/WashU following residency because of the cooperative culture and excellent patient care offered to all patients. His clinical and professional interests include medical student and resident education, quality improvement work, complex patient care coordination, resource utilization, and improving patient experience.

Brian Kocak, MD, joined the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine as an Instructor in July of 2025. He was born and grew up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and he attended the University of Pittsburgh for undergraduate and medical studies. He graduated summa cum laude with dual degrees in philosophy and microbiology in 2017. He earned his medical degree from 2018-2022. In 2022, Kocak completed his internship and residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital / WashU School of Medicine in St. Louis prior to joining the division. He enjoys all forms of medicine including inpatient care, critical care, teaching, and working with medical students. His specific medical interests include cardiovascular risk assessment and cardiac imaging. He was able to continue scholarly pursuits and is engaged in a project evaluating coronary artery calcium scoring in prediction of preeclampsia in nulliparous women.

Danielle Kubicki, MD, is an Instructor in Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine.  She received her medical degree at Vanderbilt University and trained in internal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis/BJH, where she completed the BJH/WashU Primary Care in Internal Medicine program.  She has furthered her medical education through contributions to the national Society of General Internal Medicine and the Human Diagnosis Project.  She enjoys teaching residents and medical students on the Hospitalist service.  As a graduate of the Primary Care in Internal Medicine program, she has a particular interest in helping patients transition seamlessly from the hospital to the outpatient setting.

Randy Laine, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. As an attending hospitalist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Dr. Laine manages care for patients with complex illnesses, recognized for his compassionate approach and interdisciplinary collaboration. He dedicates extensive time to direct clinical teaching, mentoring residents, medical, psychiatry, and anesthesiology interns, and physician assistant students. He co-directs a new inpatient medicine clerkship rotation for PA students and serves as the director of the internal medicine consult service at the Psychiatric Care at Delmar Center (PCDC). His administrative leadership includes contributions to several committees focused on recruitment, faculty development, patient safety, quality improvement, ethics, and education. Dr. Laine’s commitment to education and clinical excellence is evidenced by his awards and positive feedback from trainees and colleagues.

Alex Lane, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has interests in medical education of residents, high value care and quality improvement, and inpatient treatment of opiate use disorder. Dr. Lane serves as Co-Director for Intern Education for the Division of Hospitalist Medicine. He attends as a general hospitalist as well as the general medicine inpatient teaching service (FIRM.) He serves on the BJH Glycemic Management Committee and the DHM Education committee, and he has published recent literature using mindful lab ordering to reduce inpatient lab draws.

Gina LaRossa, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine. She serves as medical director for the 3500 Observation Unit, director of the ED Hospitalist program, co-director of the Medicine Consult service and as key clinical faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Gina has interests in clinical operations, medical education and quality improvement.  She attends frequently on the inpatient medicine teaching service and medicine consult service, as well as caring for patients directly on the hospitalist service.

Eileen Lee, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Co-Director of the School of Medicine's Phase III Capstone Course, which reinforces and evaluates skills essential for students' transition to residency.  Dr. Lee has extensive experience in communication skills training, frequently facilitates communication skills exercises for students and residents, and directs the medicine clerkship's motivational interviewing session.  As part of the Division of Hospital Medicine's Faculty Development Committee, she helped create the Roads to Success seminar, which imparts junior medicine faculty with basic teaching skills and other foundational knowledge important for a career in academic medicine.  She also created the Division's Peer Observation of Teaching Program.  Clinically, she serves as an attending on the inpatient medicine (FIRM) service and the procedure service, and she provides direct patient care on the hospitalist service.  She is a fellow in the School of Medicine's Academy of Educators and a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, the American College of Physicians, and the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine.

Han Li, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine. She attends on direct care and medicine resident teaching services at Barnes Jewish Hospital, Barnes West County, and The Rehab Institute of St. Louis. Her academic interests are in medical education, quality improvement, clinical decision support and user design. She serves as a Deputy Editor at UpToDate, a continuously updated resource providing evidence-based and actionable recommendations guiding clinicians at the point of care.

She previously served as the Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety for the Division of Hospital Medicine. Previous work has included creation of the WashU COVID Care Manual, implementation of a sepsis detection alert, and improvement of antibiotic delivery to patients with septic shock.

Michael Lin, MD, SFHM, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Senior Fellow of Hospital Medicine. His interests include teaching and education, process improvement, and utilization management. He serves on the Internal medicine residency program evaluation committee, the Department of Medicine’s operations executive council, and multiple other committees for both Washington University and BJC Healthcare.  He serves on the Society of Hospital Medicine Annual Conference Committee and a member of the Executive Council of the Society of Hospital Medicine Interhospital Transfer Special Interest Group. He chaired two Society of Hospital Medicine’s Academic Hospitalist Leadership Summits and served on the Society of Hospital Medicine’s Academic committee. He is president-elect of the Barnes Jewish Hospital Medical Staff Association. He serves as a physician advisor for Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He is the medical director of the BJC Healthcare system transfer center covering 11 hospitals across the system.

Patricia Litkowski, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and the Medical Director of Patient Experience at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She also serves as the Director of Hospitalist Services for Inpatient Medical Oncology. She has interest in the care of hospitalized patients with cancer, interprofessional communication and teamwork, and improving the overall experience that patients have while receiving care in the hospital. Her research interests include reducing readmissions and improving length of stay.

Adam Littich, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Medical Director of the Hospitalist Service at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (BJWCH).  He is the Chief of Staff at BJWCH until 2026, where he represents the entire medical staff and serves as a liaison between the hospital and the physicians and other providers.  He is active in leadership at BJWCH, being involved in all aspects of the delivery of inpatient care.  He is a member of multiple committees and has a strong interest in quality improvement and high value inpatient care.  In addition to his leadership roles, he continues to enjoy direct patient care as a full-time hospitalist at BJWCH.  Dr. Littich also educates future physicians via the medicine teaching services (FIRM Medicine, Procedure Team) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.  He has been a member of the Division of Hospital Medicine since 2012.

Sonya Liu, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine and enjoys working on a variety of different inpatient hospitalist services including general hospitalist service, medicine firm teaching service, nocturnist/admitter, ED hospitalist, oncology/BMT service, Barnes West County, and medical consultation services at TRISL. She used to serve on the Washington University School of Medicine Committee on Admissions to review and rate applications as part of the medical student admissions process. Currently, she serves on the hospitalist Patient Care Operations committee as well as the hospitalist orientation committee. Her areas of interest include teaching medical students and residents, antimicrobial stewardship, and optimizing transitions of care (for example, medication reconciliation on admission and discharge).

Francis Loh, MD, joined the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine as an Instructor in July of 2025. He was born in Saint Louis and subsequently lived in Japan and New Jersey. He attended Harvard University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics with a focus on statistics. He returned to Saint Louis and received his medical degree in 2021 from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Loh completed his internship and residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/WashU School of Medicine in 2024. He then joined the Division of Internal Medicine in 2024 as Chief Resident at Barnes-Jewish/WashU School of Medicine where he advocated fiercely for resident workflow, quality of life, and educational improvements and taught residents and medical students clinical reasoning. Loh’s current areas of interest include general internal medicine with focus on medical education, clinical reasoning, and helping those around him rise.

Ningning Ma, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine.  She completed internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital.  She is a member of the patient care operations committee. Her primary role is direct care of hospitalized patients at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She has a particular interest in nocturnist medicine and nighttime resident education.

Sarakshi Mahajan, MD, joined the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine as a clinical instructor in July, 2023. She recently completed her fellowship in geriatrics from University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in June, 2023. Her special clinical interests encompass inpatient medicine, with emphasis on patient safety and quality improvement, medical education, geriatric medicine and improvement of elderly care in hospitals, neuro-cognitive disorders, and public health. Her research interests include microbiome and its role in neuro-cognitive impairment, role of artificial intelligence in medicine, improving outcomes in patients with delirium, and identifying and reducing caregiver stress.

Khalid Mahmood, MD, is an Instructor in Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine and works primarily on the Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant service as a hospitalist. His main area of interest is improving the quality of care amongst patients admitted to Oncology/BMT service. He is also involved in clinical research within the realm of oncology, which aids in the management of the complex medical problems of solid organ and leukemia patients. He serves as an active member of the Oncology/BMT committee which mainly focuses on QA/QI projects to further improve this growing niche of hospital medicine.
