Dr. Urvi Holmes joined Hospital Medicine in July of 2026 as an Instructor in Medicine. Originally hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Holmes moved to St. Louis in 2014. She completed her undergraduate education at WashU, where she graduated magna cum laude with degrees in Biochemistry and Anthropology. She completed her medical training at WashU Medicine, where she earned her medical degree and Master’s in Population Health Science in 2023. During her time there, she participated in research projects regarding barriers to preventative care for underserved patients in the primary care setting. Dr. Holmes then completed both her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO, where she also served as a third year Chief Resident. She engaged in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives including creating and disseminating a standardized protocol for rapid response teams with the goal of reducing length of rapid responses and improving patient outcomes. She is passionate about improving patient safety through systems-level research and innovation.
