An advanced practice clinician (APC) in hospital medicine is a board–certified healthcare professional who works closely with hospitalist physicians and other healthcare professionals. In collaboration with hospitalists, our APCs provide comprehensive care to patients hospitalized at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH) and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (BJWCH) .

APCs in hospital medicine can include nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) and are also referred to as an advanced practice provider (APP).  In hospital medicine, APCs contribute to the delivery of high quality and patient centered care while serving as the primary clinician for patients in multiple areas of the hospital.
