After coordinating the 1-day course “Care of the Hospitalized Patient” for 13 years, it was paused due to COVID. This year, the Division of Hospital Medicine was thrilled to be able to re-vamp and re-launch the course, turning it into the 3-day 14th Annual Gateway Hospital Medicine Conference. Dr. Mark Williams and Dr. Lois Richard were co-chairs, along with Dr. Lisa Moscoso, the Professor and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Medicine.
The conference offered both an adult and pediatric track, featuring a diverse list of amazing speakers such as Dr. Eric Howell, CEO of the Society of Hospital Medicine, Dr. Iqra Arshad, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at St. Louis University School of Medicine, and Dr. Emilee Dobish, Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and Associate Program Director for the Pediatrics Residency Program.
Many Washington University and BJC Faculty participated as well, lending to a well-rounded and highly informative conference. Attendees at this year’s successful relaunch and expansion were excited by the high-quality presentations and proffered many compliments during the sessions.
Without question, the course was a success and closed with outstanding presentations by Dr. Monique Bruinsma, Dr. Safa Farrag, and Dr. Marty Kerrigan who provided an Update in Hospital Medicine. Additional hospitalists who lectured include Dr. Stephanie Conner, Dr. Ben Hoemann, Dr. Eric Johnson, Dr. Mike Lin, Dr. Bob Mahoney, Dr. Kieran Patel, Dr. Corey Shy, and Dr. Rob Young. Great job to everyone involved!
