The mission of the Division of Hospital Medicine (DHM) Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Allyship, and Social Justice (IDEAS) Committee is to encourage recruitment and retention of people of diverse backgrounds, facilitate discussion and awareness among colleagues regarding race, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, and gender equality issues, support a welcoming and inclusive workplace climate, and improve patient care for the diverse community we serve. 

IDEAS at Department of Medicine (DOM) Programming

IDEAS at DOM is the diversity office of the Department of Medicine, chaired by Dr. Angela Brown, the DOM Vice Chair of Health Equity. IDEAS at DOM hosts 7 programs: AWAM, FWIM, Fellowship Initiative, Fellowship Initiative, HEaR, MEDA, OUTmed, and Residency Initiative. These programs aim to create community, enhance mentorship, and build safe spaces for people of various backgrounds. The programs focus on both trainees, faculty, and staff.
