Each month, the Patient Experience Team at Barnes-Jewish Hospital collects feedback from discharged patients about their experience during their hospital stay. In January of 2025, several hospitalists received excellent feedback from their patients.
Dr. Andrew Alter’s patient mentioned him by name, saying, “My hospitalist doctor, Dr. Alter, was extraordinary and so was the nursing staff there. He helped us when the pain doctors weren’t showing up and got us answers.”

I had a positive experience during my hospital stay, particularly with the hospitalist who took care of me for the last three days. He was attentive, thorough, and nice. He explained everything to me and went out of his way to get all the necessary information. Overall, I was impressed with his care and would like to acknowledge his excellence.”
Vivek Hansalia, MD, was also recognized by his previous patient, who stated, “I had a positive experience during my hospital stay, particularly with the hospitalist who took care of me for the last three days. He was attentive, thorough, and nice. He explained everything to me and went out of his way to get all the necessary information. Overall, I was impressed with his care and would like to acknowledge his excellence.”
Ihab Hassanieh, MD, had two patients who provided valuable feedback about their stay as well. One said, “my doctors and nurses were extraordinary.” Another shared, “I really liked my attending physician, Dr. Hassanieh. Even though he wasn’t a cardiologist, he actually went above and beyond to look into some stuff. He made sure I had my questions answered. I’m really pleased with how far out he went. It just wasn’t necessary, I didn’t really ask him to, he just had the questions he couldn’t answer when he dug into him and came back to me. Yeah, I was really pleased with that.”

Dr. Danielle Kubicki, and nurse practitioner Brenna Zack, were mentioned by a patient, who said, “My doctors and nurse practitioner–everyone that came in my room to help me were great. They were great people. I wouldn’t go to any other hospital. There’s no way, it’s the only one I would go to.”
Thank you to our hospitalists for their hard work and dedication to providing excellent patient care.
