After being named one of the finalists in the Society of Hospital Medicine’s Research, Innovations, and Vignettes (RIV) Poster Competition, Division of Hospital Medicine colleagues, Dr. Nathan Martin, Dr. Margo Girardi, and Warren Smith, will be heading to SHM’s National Conference in Orlando, Florida to await the final results.
Their poster titled, “360° Evaluation of Fellow Hospitalists Via A Redcap Survey”, utilizes the Redcap survey feedback tool to anonymously evaluate fellow hospitalist faculty members. Their ongoing research encourages hospitalists to provide both positive and negative feedback to improve patient care. Completing the anonymous evaluations and providing feedback to colleagues will hopefully help increase the quality of clinical care, quality of physician handoff, and the quality of the hospital discharge summaries.
SHM’s RIV competition features more than 1,700 applicants vying for approximately 900 poster spots. Plenary and oral sessions are chosen from the pool of abstracts prior to the meeting, and their authors are invited to present on-site at HM 18. This is one of the most popular events at SHM’s Annual Meeting. It enables hospitalists from across the country to discuss emerging science and clinical cases, share clinical and professional experiences, and make valuable professional connections. Many of the cutting-edge abstracts that are first presented at SHM’s RIV sessions go on to be published in respected medical journals.*
