
Dennis Chang, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine, Interprofessional Education (IPE) MD Thread Director, and Co-Director of the Inpatient Clinical Immersion at WashU. Dr. Chang is involved in numerous education endeavors throughout the division, as well as the Department of Medicine. He plays a vital role in organizing faculty development programs as the course director of ‘Foundations in Teaching Skills’ through WashU Medicine’s Academy of Educators, and as the leader of the Faculty Development committee in the Division of Hospital Medicine.
Dr. Chang was honored to be selected by the WashU Medicine Phase 2 students to receive the “Clinical Educator of the Year Award” in recognition of his outstanding teaching efforts in 2024. He will be formally recognized by medical students and administration at the annual Distinguished Service Teaching Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the Eric P. Newman Education Center (EPNEC).
In Dr. Chang’s letter of award, Associate Dean for Medical Student Education, Thomas De Fer, MD, FACP, stated, “We realize your time is divided among many responsibilities with teaching representing only one aspect, and we are grateful for your ongoing commitment and continuing interest in our education.”
