Cady B. Edwards, MD, will serve as the Co-Director of the Medicine Triage Attending (MTA) service alongside Nathan Martin, MD. The MTA service is 24/7 and the hospitalist serving as MTA is responsible for triaging Medicine patients being admitted to BJH. The MTA works closely with the Emergency Department, Patient Placement, Transfer Center, Intensive Care Units, and Internal Medicine residents to help our patients receive the best care. The MTA service focuses on ensuring our patients are receiving the appropriate level of care with the aim to improve patient outcomes, increase learning opportunities for trainees, and provide more efficient flow of patients through the hospital. Predominantly a nocturnist, Dr. Edwards has a special interest in patient throughput overnight. Although now well-established, the role of MTA is still relatively new which leaves opportunities for growth and change. Dr. Edwards and Dr. Martin are currently working on updating the MTA manual, training and orienting Hospitalist faculty new to the MTA role, and working with the Transfer Center to help prioritize Medicine patients awaiting transfer to BJH.
“I am humbled and honored to represent our division in this leadership role. I am thankful for the opportunity and look forward for things to come.”
Cady B. Edwards, MD
