The annual “Mark Thoelke Visiting Professor in Hospital Medicine” was established to honor founding member and previous Chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine, Mark Thoelke, MD, Professor of Medicine. Dr. Thoelke provided more than two decades of contributions to Hospital Medicine at Barnes Jewish Hospital and Washington University. He fostered a family atmosphere and served as THE Hospitalist Yoda.
On August 31st, Kevin O’Leary, MD, of Northwestern University was presented with a plaque honoring him as the Division of Hospital Medicine’s inaugural Mark Thoelke Visiting Professor in Hospital Medicine. Dr. O’Leary’s presentation was on “Narrowing and Bridging the Gap in Academic Hospital Medicine”.
