Hospitalist staff members, Mary Russell and Melinda Rubio, competed in the 20th anniversary of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, Oct 14-15, in downtown St. Louis. The remix run challenges competitors to 2 runs in 2 days. Mary and Melinda ran a 5K on Saturday and a 10K on Sunday. Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis proudly boasts that it is one of the most scenic courses in the Rock ‘n’ Roll family, with start and finish line views of the famous Gateway Arch, a historic downtown and picturesque neighborhoods framed by all the colors of foliage in the fall.
This is Mary’s first year for the race. She started running for the challenge. Now, it is a hobby that her and her husband enjoy together. For Melinda, this is her second year participating in the Rock ‘n’ Roll series, running the half marathon in 2016.
The Rock ‘n Roll marathon series benefits the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, who are working hard towards finding cures and saving children battling cancer and other deadly diseases.
