Dr. Lubika Jeremie Nkashama joined Hospital Medicine at WashU Medicine as an Instructor in July 2026. He was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Geneva College in Pennsylvania, where he developed a strong foundation in biology and an early interest in research. Following college, Dr. Nkashama worked at the University of Pittsburgh, studying the impact of dietary potassium on blood pressure regulation in the kidney. He later attended medical school at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. During medical school, he spent a dedicated research year at Johns Hopkins University conducting a basic science project in cardiac electrophysiology as a Sarnoff Research Fellow. In 2023, he earned his medical degree with special mention in Biomedical Research. Dr. Nkashama completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at WashU Medicine/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2026. He looks forward to caring for patients and contributing to education and research as a member of Hospital Medicine.
