Dr. Patricia Litkowski represented Barnes-Jewish Hospital at the annual NGPX Conference in Palm Springs, California with other leaders from the BJC Health System. The conference served as a form for national leaders in patient experience, healthcare, and business to discuss shared challenges and opportunities for growth.
One of the most significant changes brought about by the Affordable Care Act for healthcare providers is the financial incentive to transition from profit-focused models towards a stronger emphasis on patient satisfaction. Additionally, patient expectations have evolved, and they no longer passively receive care but actively participate in their treatment options. Patients are now more likely to conduct their own research and expect similar interactions with healthcare providers as they have with commercial brands.
As a result, hospitals and healthcare networks have had to alter their approach to delivering care in order to remain competitive. The importance of staying competitive has never been more crucial. The Next Generation Patient Experience event brings together experienced PX executives from various areas of healthcare, all responsible for overseeing their organization’s patient experience strategy.
Dr. Litkowski said, “I enjoyed learning from colleagues about the use of technology and natural language processing as well as GPT technology in analyzing patient experience data.”
