Now Open! Newly Renovated Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital

The new Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital officially opened for business on November 5, 2019. It is a 64-bed hospital with all private rooms and state of the art facilities located in Creve Coeur, Missouri on Olive Boulevard.  All medicine patients admitted to the hospital will be cared for by a Washington University Division of Hospital Medicine physician.  Our hospitalists also provide consultative services to patients admitted by our surgery colleagues.  We have worked closely with BJWCH over the last few years in the planning, design, and transition to this new hospital.  We are extremely excited that it is open and ready for patient care!

“The best thing about Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital has always been the people that work there–friendly and welcoming to everyone.  Now, they finally have an amazing facility to match.  I am excited to continue the tradition of the family-like atmosphere in the new space. As many of you know, Sharon Baker recently passed away.  She has been described as the “Den Mom” of the medical staff office at BJWCH, and has been providing introductions and tours of BJWCH to new physicians for years.  Hers was the smiling face that greeted everyone who walked into the old Physicians Lounge.  I was involved in the efforts to create the Sharon Baker Patient Care Fund, which successfully raised $100,000 dollars to name the new Medical Staff Lounge in honor of her. This fund will be used to provide medications and supplies to less fortunate patients at BJWCH.  We have never had a dedicated fund like this at BJWCH, so I am incredibly thankful to all those who donated to this important cause.”
