Meet Our New Hospitalist – Jeffrey Choi, MD, MS

Jeffrey Choi, MD, MS

Dr. Jeffrey Choi joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in June 2022. He was born in Hong Kong and subsequently moved to Richmond, a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada where he calls home. He graduated with distinction from Stanford University after completing a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Classics. He spent another year completing a Master of Science in Biology at Stanford, where he continued his undergraduate research work in developing genetically modified stem cells for therapeutic angiogenesis in the Department of Bioengineering. He spent several years in college volunteering at the Pacific Free Clinic, a student-run free clinic in San Jose, California, where he served as a Chinese medical interpreter as well as the finance and fundraising chair.

He received his medical degree in 2019 from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. During medical school, he continued volunteer work with the medically underserved at the Saturday Neighborhood Health Clinic. He also served as the WashU chapter co-president for the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association, through which he helped coordinate community health fairs, medical Chinese classes, and schoolwide cultural appreciation and educational events. Dr. Choi completed his internship and residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital / Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis prior to joining the Division in 2022. His current areas of interest are general internal medicine with a focus on inpatient care, safe transitional care, and health literacy, as well as special interests in infectious diseases and oncology. In his free time, he enjoys binge watching television, eating, and traveling.
