Dr. Ankita Kapoor joined the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine as a clinical instructor in October of 2022. She was born and raised on the west coast in India. She obtained her medical degree from Government Medical College, Surat, India in March of 2015. She pursued Internal Medicine Residency at Central Michigan University, Saginaw, MI and graduated in 2019. She was elected as a Chief resident in her third year of residency when she had the opportunity to teach the residents and medical students along with administrative work. She was awarded with the title of best senior resident for her excellence in patient care and collegiality in her third year of residency.
Before joining the Division of Hospital Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Dr. Kapoor worked as an Internal Medicine Hospitalist at Methodist South Hospital in Memphis, TN for a duration of three years, until September 2022, where she provided comprehensive medical care to the underserved population in the area. She worked very closely with the hospital staff and also had an opportunity to teach PA students during the same time. She participated in multi-disciplinary rounds to address the challenges in patient care and assisted with their rectification very diligently.
Dr. Kapoor’s current areas of interests are general internal medicine, particularly hospital medicine and inpatient services. Besides medicine, she enjoys cooking different cuisines, singing and traveling with her friends and family. She is a true foodie. She is very excited to join the Division of Hospital Medicine.
