Hospitalists Pedal the Cause for Cancer

On Sunday, September 24, fellow clinicians, Lisa M. Gill, DNP, ANP, and Matt Freer, MD, braved the heat and finished a 40+ mile bike ride in support of Pedal the Cause. Lisa finished the 40 mile ride in 03:34:36. For Lisa, bike riding started as a means of exercise and fellowship with her family. Then, riding for her became more purposeful. In 2005, Lisa’s father passed away from lung cancer. Now, she rides in honor of her family, friends, and co-workers who have been diagnosed and treated for various forms of cancer. Lisa is thankful for all the support she has recieved over the years. Matt showed his support this year by joining Lisa’s team and rode 50 miles to the finish line. Through the annual cycling challenge, Pedal the Cause provides critical funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. It is in the hopes that the research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.
