MATT MILLER/WASHU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Over the past year, the popularity of rotations on the Hospitalist Service has grown. Second- and third-year residents are offered an elective month with the Hospitalist Service to improve their clinical acumen and to experience some of the unique challenges that face hospitalists today. The elective offers a degree of autonomy and faculty exposure not afforded by the traditional Firm experience, while providing patient care in a structured and closely supervised environment. At the same time, residents are encouraged and helped to pursue independent research projects they can continue throughout their training.
