Dennis Chang, MD, Promoted to Professor of Medicine

Congratulations to Dennis Chang, MD, on his promotion to Professor of Medicine effective January 1, 2026.

Dennis Chang, MD, joined WashU Hospital Medicine in 2018. Previously, he was affiliated with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where he served as the 3rd-year Medicine Clerkship Director and the Director of Education and Faculty Development for the Division of Hospital Medicine.

Since joining WashU Medicine, Dr. Chang has undertaken a variety of leadership roles, including Interprofessional Education (IPE) MD Thread Director and Co-Director of Inpatient Clinical Immersion. In 2019, he was inducted into the WashU Academy of Educators, where he directs the Foundations in Teaching Skills course and contributes to the development of several other courses and events annually. In July 2023, Dr. Chang helped create the “Roads to Success” course, which has run several successful iterations and has contributed to faculty development for hospitalists and other members of the Department of Medicine. He has spearheaded many educational initiatives within Hospital Medicine and the Academy of Educators. Additionally, Dr. Chang serves on several committees within WashU Hospital Medicine.

During his tenure at WashU, Dr. Chang has received multiple awards, including the “Distinguished Service Teaching Award for Inclusion” and the “Clinical Educator of the Year” award.
