The Division of Hospital Medicine is proud to announce that one of our faculty members, Dennis Chang, MD, FHM, was among 42 Washington University School of Medicine educators inducted into the newly created Academy of Educators.
The Academy of Educators seeks to nurture a culture of educational excellence and an institutionally valued community of leaders in health science education and in education across all Washington University Medical Campus departments and programs. It is led by founding director, Mary Klingensmith, MD, the Mary Culver Distinguished Professor and vice chair for education in the Department of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. As part of its overall objective, members of the academy will work together to help other faculty members adopt creative and high-yield teaching methods, foster an environment where education is highly valued, provide advocacy for education in the promotion process, organize mentorship and faculty development programs in medical education, and support educational research and scholarship. Members were chosen through an application process and were reviewed by both a committee of educators from WUSM and external reviewers.
It is truly an honor to be selected to the Academy of Educators and to be working with such a distinguished group of fellow educators. I could not have done this without the support of all my colleagues in the Division of Hospital Medicine.
Dennis Chang, MD
