Each year, the Society of Hospital Medicine holds an educational conference that features workshops where hospitalists can improve their skills and increase their knowledge. The 2025 SHM Converge Conference is gearing up to be bigger than ever, with over 100 educational sessions. Two of our hospitalists, Anthony Dao, MD, and Michael Lin, MD, submitted workshop proposals and were accepted.

Several hours of sessions will be presented each day in various educational tracks. You have the opportunity to create your own schedule with sessions that most appeal to you. Dr. Anthony Dao an Assistant Professor of Medicine, the director of OUTMed, an organization for LGBTQIA+ trainees, faculty, and staff, as well as a member of the division’s IDEAS committee. His 90-minute workshop will utilize his knowledge and experience with diversity and inclusion to provide a comprehensive framework for DEI initiatives in hospitalist programs. His workshop is entitled, “Winning the DEI Jackpot: A Practical Framework for DEI Initiatives in Hospitalist Programming.”
Dr. Michael Lin is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Senior Fellow of Hospital Medicine. He is highly involved in the Internal Medicine residency program, serving on the evaluation committee, the Department of Medicine’s operations executive council, and multiple other committees for both Washington University and BJC Healthcare. He currently serves on the Society of Hospital Medicine Annual Conference Committee and is a member of the Executive Council of the Society of Hospital Medicine Interhospital Transfer Special Interest Group. His experience and standing with the Society of Hospital Medicine puts him in an excellent position to provide an insightful workshop centering around streamlining interhospital transfers. In addition, he is the medical director of the BJC Healthcare system transfer center, which covers 11 hospitals across the system. His workshop is entitled, “Interhospital Transfers: Beyond the Basics.”
