Dr. Tarek Bakain joined the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in Medicine in July 2024. He was born and raised in Amman, Jordan, and pursued his medical degree at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, graduating with university honors in 2018. His passion for medicine extended beyond academics; during his medical school years, he was actively involved with the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA), organizing numerous campaigns and events aimed at improving health care for underserved populations and refugees in Jordan. Dr. Bakain completed his residency in Internal Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University-Washington Hospital Center in 2024 before joining the Division of Hospital Medicine. Throughout his residency, Dr. Bakain engaged in several quality improvement projects and research within the hospital medicine and gastroenterology fields and was able to provide care to a variety of populations and age groups while keeping up his passion for helping underserved communities. He enjoys teaching and working with both medical students and residents.
