The Division of Hospital Medicine is always looking for qualified clinicians who can provide the highest quality patient care, education, and research. We are currently recruiting full-time Nocturnist Physicians, Hospitalists, and Oncology Hospitalists to serve in our expanding hospitalist program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, and The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis.

Hospital Medicine physicians practice at three locations:

  • Barnes-Jewish Hospital is part of Washington University Medical Center, located in Saint Louis, Missouri. With 1,638 licensed beds, around 1,700 physicians, and over 50,000 admissions annually, it is the largest hospital in the state of Missouri. Consistently ranked among the top US hospitals in U.S. News and World Report, the medical center provides a full range of specialized clinical services.
  • Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is a 77-staffed bed affiliate of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, located in St. Louis County. The facility provides general medical and surgical services as well as advanced cardiology and gastroenterology procedures, cancer care through the Siteman Cancer Center, and a special care unit.
  • The Rehabilitation Institute of Saint Louis is a 131-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility located near the Washington University Medical Center. Hospital Medicine physicians provide internal medicine consultative support for inpatients.

These positions require an MD/DO, board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine with eligibility for licensure in the State of Missouri. All positions offer an attractive salary, bonus option, and professional allowance. A night differential is standard for nocturnist positions, and available to all others. Washington University offers comprehensive health, dental, vision, retirement benefits and more.

The Hospitalist Service is a medical house-physician service on North and South campus of the Medical Center that provides coverage for medical patients not assigned to a resident team. Full time physicians provide the majority of the care, but there are many opportunities for moonlighting.

This is the only sanctioned moonlighting available to BJH Internal Medicine residents. This is a great opportunity to enhance income and broaden your medical experience.

These shifts are open to all Internal Medicine senior residents, junior residents starting in January (i.e. after six months as a junior resident), and all medical specialty fellows according to the guidelines set by their individual departments. You must have a permanent Missouri Medical License, DEA and BNDD numbers, and ACLS certification. Once you are eligible, you can request shifts. Outside physicians may also be eligible to moonlight.

Please send inquiries about moonlighting to hospitalist@wustl.edu.
